Three Floyds Fantabulous Resplendence X Anniversary Ale

I recently heard about this new brew from Three Floyds, arguably one of my favorite breweries in existence and I had to have it. A short drive to my local and a few bottles were mine. The Three Floyds version of the last supper is featured on the label and is incredibly cool. The artwork is done by Chris Berg and I'm lucky enough to have a full size poster of this hanging on my wall. This brew is 10.5% abv and has been billed as an "oatwine". Available on tap at the brewpub as well as in 22oz bomber bottles that will run you roughly $10.00. Now onto the brew!
I ran out to pick up this brew after hearing about it. The 22oz bomber pours into my glass a wonderful slightly hazy orange color with a small white head that leaves a bit of sticky lacing as it falls. Aromas blast out of the glass with huge citric, tropical hops. Grapefruit runs wild with some pine resin undertones. Pineapple, mango, lychee...I'm seriously not making these up! Sweet caramel lies underneath the massive blanket of green hops. Fresh, bright, enticing. Damn this just smells so good. On par and even possibly better than Dreadnaught.
First sip brings a smooth, slick caramel malt upfront that in a split second is overtaken by a cascade of vibrant hops. Huge citrus flavors including orange and grapefruit along with some pine and floral notes as well. Tropical fruit comes through in the flavor again with some pineapple noticeable. Flows down with a great slick, smooth body that gives the brew a tasty twist. Bitterness makes itself quite known on the back of the palate and lingers after each sip. A damn tasty brew to be had here with no real noticeable alcohol.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and quite smooth with steady carbonation. There's a silkiness as it flows down that must be thanks to the oats in this one. Quite easy to drink for such a big brew. A few bombers of this and I'd be in trouble! Kudos to 10 years of brewing at Three Floyds and here's to 10 more with continued success. Recommended for sure.
This beer gets a big 4.25 out of 5 from me. Damn tasty and will bring a smile to any hop heads face!
